Tipitina’s is now auctioning brilliant, original artwork in efforts to continue supporting its staff during the COVID-19 shutdown. Celebrated New Orleans artist Frenchy has donated a collection of paintings to the auction. All proceeds garnered from the auctions will go directly towards supporting the Tipitina’s staff and maintaining the venue until it can reopen.
The first painting auction took place from April 2 to April 9. The piece for auction was an original Frenchy painting of the New Orleans band The Radiators that was painted during one of their shows earlier in the year. The next auction began yesterday and will be available for bidding through Sunday, April 19 at 10 am CDT. The work up for action is also an original Frenchy painting, that features southern blues band Little Feat. The piece was painted during a Little Feat performance at Tipitina’s on July 28, 2012. In addition to the auctions, you can support Tipitina’s and its staff by purchasing a “drink in advance” which is redeemable at a future Tipitina’s show. Those who offer a donation will receive a drink voucher for a show once Tipitina’s reopens as a thank you for supporting them in this time. Donations can be made to Tipitina’s through their Paypal, Venmo, and GoFundMe page.
