Tipitina’s has revealed some of the details for its 15th annual Instruments A Comin’ benefit show. Scheduled for Monday, April 25 (during Jazz Fest season), the event will honor the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr.
In keeping with tradition, the proceeds from this year’s show will be used to purchase new muscial instruments for New Orleans area school band programs.
The party will begin at 6pm with an outdoor street party that will be free and open to the public. Outdoor events include a silent auction, a Battle of the Marching Bands (featuring schools that benefit from the fundraiser), a Wall of Fame induction ceremony for Donald Harrison Jr., and a Walk of Fame induction ceremony for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
The lineup for the indoor concert has not yet been announced, though that portion of the event is set to begin at 9pm. Tickets for the concert will go on sale Friday, February 19 at 10am.
