The Tipitina’s Foundation has unveiled the details for its annual Free Fridays concert series.
In keeping with tradition, the iconic Uptown music venue will host a variety of artists every Friday from June 10 until September 2. The shows will be free of charge, but proceeds from drink and merchandise sales will go to the Tipitina’s Foundation.
This year’s series will kick off with performances by Good Enough for Good Times (with Galactic’s Robert Mecrcurio and Jeff Raines) and eclectic up-and-coming rockers the Stoop Kids. They will be followed by an assortment of top notch local acts, including New Orleans Suspects, Honey Island Swamp Band, Brass-a-holics, Walter Wolfman Washington, Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes and Big Sam’s Funky Nation.
The schedule also features a fair amount of TBAs, so its safe to assume that more artists will be added in the coming weeks.
Additionally, the Tipitina’s Foundation has revealed that it will complement its Friday music series with a Foundation Free Mondays cinema series at the newly restored Orpheum Theater. More details on that project will be announced in the near future.
