UNO alum Jonathan Mares is back with a brand new stage production after launching the successful Donna Summer tribute show, Last Dance: A Tribute to Donna Summer. In January, he teamed up with award-winning local singer Anaïs St. John for the critically acclaimed affair, which took place at the Joy and Marigny theaters. Now, Mares and St. Jon are again joining forces, this time for a Tina Turner tribute.
Simply the Best: The Tina Turner Story premieres Friday, Jan. 19 at the Joy Theater. The show will explore Turner’s life through more than 15 of her greatest hits, such as “Simply the Best,” “What’s Love Got to Do With it,” and “Proud Mary.” St. John will take centerstage, supported by a seven-piece live band, backup singers and dancers to help her tell Turner’s story.
Tickets are available now, starting at $25.
