Well before John Thomas Griffith joined Cowboy Mouth, he was in a local punk rock band called the Red Rockers.
Formed in 1979 by Griffith, James Singletary, Patrick Jones, and Darren Hill, the Red Rockers hit it big in 1983 when their song “China” hit the charts and went into heavy rotation on MTV.
Griffith describes this photo, taken in San Francisco in 1981, as “just an average day at the office.”
If Mad Men has given us a glimpse of daily life within the walls of an advertising agency in New York in the 1960s, maybe this Allman-Brothers-at-the-Fillmore-meets-the-Clash shot captures punk rock life in the 1980s?
But why is everyone leaning away from Griffith?
