The 12th Annual Thriller Halloween Workshop and Flash Mob is set to return to the streets of New Orleans. This event, inspired by Michael Jackson’s iconic song “Thriller,” invites participants to learn and perform the famous dance routine.
Classes are set to commence on Saturday, September 9, and will run every Saturday until October 28, 2023. Participants can look forward to honing their dance moves and learning the famous choreography from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Anne Burr Dance Studio located at 1128 Dublin St. This studio, situated at the corner of Oak St. and Dublin St., will serve as the practice facility.
The workshop will culminate in a flash mob performance on Halloween Day. Participants will showcase their dance skills by performing the synchronized routine in various locations around the city.
Founder and Director of FLASHMOB NEW ORLEANS, Kenneth “Kynt” Bryan, a local techno music singer, dancer and actor, is the visionary behind this electrifying event. Bryan, who was the first person to bring the art of the flash mob into the academic realm through his workshops at Loyola University, describes a flash mob as “a random spontaneous combustion of energy in any way, shape, or form at any random time in any given space.”
Last year’s event occurred at Jackson Square and garnered attention from both locals and tourists. This year’s Thriller Halloween Workshop and Flash Mob aims to continue the tradition of celebrating dance and bringing people together.
If you’re interested in participating, applications are now open. Join others in learning the iconic “Thriller” dance routine and becoming part of New Orleans’ annual Halloween flash mob tradition.
