Marcia Ball, Brass-A-Holics and Paul Sanchez & The Rolling Road Show will perform at Threadhead Thursday, an annual free concert that takes place the Thursday before Jazz Fest kicks off. This year the event will return to City Park’s Botanical Gardens on Thursday, April 27.
Threadhead Thursday is put on by the Threadhead Cultural Foundation (THCF), a nonprofit organization that promotes New Orleans culture’s by issuing grants and assisting the city’s artistic community. In 2016, the organization offered grants to to a number of music and cultural endeavors, including the Upbeat Academy Music Foundation, the Danny Barker Banjo and Guitar Festival, Craig Klein’s second solo album and the Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil fundraiser.
While entry to Threadhead Thursday is free, a $10 donation to City Park is suggested.
In addition to Threadhead Thursday, THCF also throws its annual Threadhead Patry (no, that’s not a typo). This year’s gathering will bring The subdudes, Naughty Professor, Feufollet with special guest Aurora Nealand, Ed Volker’s Do Rad Chopppers, Erica Falls Band and The Asylum Chorus to the Old Ironworks in New Orleans on Tuesday, May 2. Pre-sale tickets are currently sold out, but interested parties can put their names on the waiting list or wait until additional tickets are released closer to the show date. Admission includes 10 hours music, plus crawfish, beverages and other food. All proceeds from the event will go to the foundation’s projects.
