The Threadhead Cultural Foundation has announced its ninth round of grant funding that began yesterday, September 25. Grants will be awarded for artistic projects whose work is in the tradition of preserving, promoting and disseminating the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans and the surrounding area of Louisiana.
According to the application form, the Foundation “seeks to assist those musicians, artists, future musicians and artists, and others involved in endeavors relating to music and other artistic expressions whose work is in this style and do not have the resources to produce and distribute their work, or in some cases to actively create their music because they lack basic financial resources to sustain their lives.” Only applications from individuals and organizations with connections to the State of Louisiana, and that support the mission of Threadhead Cultural Foundation, and are appropriate to the objectives of the Foundation will be considered.
The maximum amount of an artistic project grant is $5,000 and the maximum amount of a Buddy Mann event grant is $2,500. The grants awarded may be for more or less than the original amount requested at the discretion of the foundation board, who have thus far approved a total of over $325,000 has been rewarded in the initiative’s history.
Applications will be accepted until October 25, and the grant awards will be announced the week of December 4, 2017.
