The New Orleans Underground Hip-Hop Awards took over House of Blues and Decatur Saturday, October 8 for a celebration of the local hip-hop community and its best work of the past year.
Twenty-two awards were given out, voted on by the public and a panel of judges (disclaimer: OffBeat was represented on the panel) from large groups of nominees. In addition, special awards were given to members of the community who passed away since the last year’s awards, as well as lifetime achievement awards to luminaries of New Orleans hip-hop.
