The New Orleans Children’s Chorus is accepting registrations for its 2023-2024 season, welcoming new singers aged 5 to 18 to join. Students in 6th grade and above will need to schedule a voice placement hearing, which will occur on Saturday, August 26, starting at 10 a.m. at the NOCC office located at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (5580 Canal Blvd). Alternatives will be arranged for those unable to attend on that day.
The organization’s three choirs are open to people aged 5 to 18 from the metropolitan area, regardless of prior experience or talent. NOCC’s goal is to provide a musical experience that’s guided by skilled professionals in a convenient location.
Running from mid-September to early May, the 2023-2024 season will feature various events, including a Broadway concert with choirs and individual singers performing show tunes, alongside the regular winter and spring concerts.
Weekly rehearsals for all choirs will be held on Mondays after 4:15 p.m., starting September 11, at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rehearsal timings will be provided based on the singer’s age and grade. New members are welcome to join until September.
Established as a notable music education program, the New Orleans Children’s Chorus has gained recognition for its achievements. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary season in 2023, the choir has presented concerts in multiple locations, including Italy, Ireland, Canada, and Washington D.C. Notably, the Concert Chorus and Alumni performed at Carnegie Hall in New York on Memorial Day 2022.
