The April edition of The New Movement Theater’s monthly comedy series will feature new storytellers and local comedians, other original improv pieces. Known as the up-and-coming space for quality comedy in New Orleans, TNM is the place to be this weekend if unique, witty comedy is your thing. In fact, OffBeat’s own comedy intern, Alex Jennings will be featured storyteller at Saturday’s edition of “The Megaphone Show.” Full weekend line-up:

This show is an open jam for students and alumni of the New Movement’s improv school.

“Lights Up”
An improv showcase show where new troupes composed of TNM students strut their stuff. This week is is a special Megaphone Show featuring up-and-coming storytellers and improv comics.

A comedic parody of the Intervention television show where a comic’s friends and loved ones interrupt his act to save his comedic life.

“The Real @ChrisTrew Show”
Comedian Chris Trew unleashes new standup, improv and audience participation games from his fevered brain, with local guest stars galore.

SATURDAY, APRIL 6
9:15 p.m.
“Rucker Park”
Modeled off the urban pickup basketball mashups of the original Rucker Park, this is an improv showcase where students and alumni of TNM’s comedy school come together in exciting new match-ups. This show is not to be missed.

“The Megaphone Show”
This is a combination improv/storytelling showcase in which a monologist tells three true stories from his/her life and TNM’s top improv comics create scenes based on each vignette. This week’s monologist is local SF author, stand-up comedian, and OffBeat.com contributing writer, Alex Jennings.
