The Jazz in Park concert series, a weekly Thursday evening series in Armstrong Park, brought guitar legend Leo Nocentelli to the Treme yesterday to headline this week’s concert with his Meters Experience band. While Nocentelli is the only original Meter in the band, most of the set list consists of Meters classics. Nkhiezy Cele and Portia Sibiya of South Africa, Christien Bold featuring Cafe au Lait, and DJ Quickie Mart opened the show.

The Jazz in the Park concert series, currently in its first year, is produced by People United for Armstrong Park. Next Thursday’s concert features the Wild Magnolias featuring Bo Dollis, the TBC Brass Band, a second line led by the New School Brass Band, and DJ Quickie Mart.
