The Ella Project, the non-profit organization dedicated to serving the New Orleans music and cultural community, will hold an online webinar dedicated to discussing international touring on June 1.
The “I Can Do That: International Touring” webinar, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. CST, will take place on Zoom, hosted by Ron Rona, Artistic Director of Preservation Hall, and recording artist, DJ, producer and organizer Cole Williams.
Rona and Williams are both mentors for The Ella Project’s “Tête-à-Tête,” an artist consultancy network in which seasoned professionals in the arts offer advice and resources to early and mid-career artists for an hourly fee.
Rona is a cultural engineer, brand strategist and creative producer based in New Orleans. He has been the artistic director of Preservation Hall, a historic jazz venue in the French Quarter, since 2006.
Williams, referred to as “The Empress of Storytelling,” is a Brooklyn-born artist who moved to New Orleans in 2014. Williams has provided vocals and percussion for Joey Bada$$, Chiddy Bang, Mo B. Dick and Aloe Blacc, to name a few, as well as working on her own solo projects. Williams was nominated for Best Female Vocalist by OffBeat Magazine in 2017.
During the webinar, Rona and Williams will share their experiences in preparing to tour overseas, identifying tour destinations, band dynamics and building a positive dynamic on a tour. The webinar will also cover topics such as logistics, unexpected issues, partnerships, budgeting, booking agents and tour managers, as well as any questions that participants may have.
