Tank and the Bangas have announced a lengthy series of fall tour dates that will take them through much of the United States and parts of Canada. The group will be supported by fellow New Orleanians Sweet Crude for the duration of the run.
Tank and the Bangas have been exploding in popularity since they won the top spot in NPR’s massive Tiny Desk Contest. The band’s first big moment in the national spotlight introduced countless people to their off-kilter blend of jazz, soul, rock and spoken word, earning them thousands of new fans across the country and beyond.
“It just feels like this has helped us get to the next level in our career that we’ve been trying so hard to get to,” frontwoman Tarriona “Tank” Ball told OffBeat in a recent interview. “ It’s just amazing. It’s what we’ve really been looking for, to get this music to people who’ve never heard it before… I don’t really feel any horrible pressure except that it’s now time to give people an even bigger experience than before. That’s what it’s really all about, giving an experience to people.”
Tank and the Bangas’ fall tour dates will follow a packed summer schedule that includes the sold out NPR Tiny Desk Contest tour and appearances at popular festivals like Bonnaroo. The full list of tour dates can be found via their website.
Tank and the Bangas also just released a video for “Quick,” the tune they recorded for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest. Fair warning: the music video is a bit darker than their joyous NPR submission.
