2018 has been a big year for Tank and The Bangas. In March, they signed to record label Verve Forecast and on April 20, released a single called “Smoke.Netflix.Chill.” which explores ‘Netflix & Chill’ from a woman’s perspective. On August 10, the five-piece New Orleans band will release a new single, “Spaceships” and the evening before, perform at the Aloft New Orleans Downtown as part of Project: Aloft Star Tour.
Project: Aloft Star is a collaboration between Universal Music Group (UMG) and Marriott International’s music-focused Aloft Hotels that is giving emerging artists the chance to kickstart their careers. Tank and the Bangas is one of five breakthrough artists chosen to encourage fellow musicians to enter the Project: Aloft Star contest. In an intimate, free concert at the Aloft Hotel’s signature WXYZ Bar, Tank and the Bangas will perform their new single, “Spaceships,” in addition to older fan favorites. The audience will receive a limited addition poster from New York artist Sophia Chang featuring Tank and the Bangas.
Project: Aloft Star Tour began with Years & Years in Philadelphia on June 23 and has four other performances in major cities throughout North and Central America. New Orleans is the tour’s second stop. The final performance of Project: Aloft Star Tour will take place in Austin, Texas in which all five finalists will perform and a winner will be chosen.
This is a great way to support the incredibly talented Tank and the Bangas in a career-defining competition and to be the first audience to hear their new single, “Spaceships,” live. The concert starts 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9 at the Aloft Hotel in the Central Business District.
