Singing both in Cajun French and English, Sweet Crude’s indie-pop rock songs are inspiring and achieve what a lot of other indie bands fail to do: they are truly joyful without being superficial. The band’s sound is indeed unique, both rooted in traditional Louisiana folk music and echoing recent pop formations such as Fleet Foxes and Fool’s Gold.

Released in 2013, their five-song EP Super Vilaine was a great piece of music, but Sweet Crude’s live performances surpass everything they recorded. Seeing the band live is like engaging in an adventure: you don’t exactly know what’s going to happen, but you know that what’s going to happen is undoubtedly going to be good.

With Jonathan Arceneaux and Marion Tortorich on drums and percussion, Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft’s voices building, Sam’s brother Jack Craft and Styler Stroup on keyboards and trumpet, Stephen McDonald on both bass and saxophone and Alexis’ melodic violin on top of that, the band’s sound is layered and yet sure to keep you dancing.

Folk musicians Cardinal Sons and Julie Odell will also be part of the night. Tickets for the show are $10 and can already be purchased through the One Eyed Jacks website.
