Sting Announces New Orleans Show

Sting will perform at New Orleans’ UNO Lakefront Arena on Wednesday, February 22. Singer-songwriter Joe Sumner and San Antonio-based Tex Mex band The Last Bandoleros will open for him at the show.

The New Orleans date will be one of many stops on Sting’s upcoming world tour in support of his new album, 57th & 9th. The record, which was released on November 11, marks the singer-songwriter’s first foray into rock in 13 years (his last few efforts have focused on classical, jazz and other styles).

The former The Police frontman last took the stage in the Crescent City in 2010, when performed at the same venue with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as part of his Symphonicities tour. His upcoming outing will find him backed by a three-piece band that features his longtime guitarist Dominic Miller, plus drummer Josh Freese and guitarist Rufus Miller.

Tickets for Sting’s New Orleans show will go on sale Monday, November 21 via Ticketmaster.
