Galactic and Grace Potter are both gearing up to headline the inaugural Landing Festival at South Shore Harbor in New Orleans this weekend. However the band and Potter–who are closing out Saturday and Sunday, respectively–aren’t waiting until the festival to begin collaborating.
This past Saturday, Potter invited Galactic drummer Stanton Moore to help her out on stage at the picturesque Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. JamBase reports that the New Orleans hero happily obliged, as he got behind his kit for a cover of Allen Toussaint and Lee Dorsey’s 1970 track “Yes We Can” (the tune was later popularized by The Pointer Sisters, who renamed it “Yes We Can Can” in 1973). Moore was on hand following Galactic’s opening set, which kicked off the night.
As previously noted, Potter and Galactic are among the acts that will appear at this weekend’s The Landing Festival. Other artists on the bill include Cake, Dr. Dog, Eagles of Death Metal, Trampled by Turtles, North Mississippi All-Stars + Anders Osborne presents N.M.O. and many more.
We’re giving away a pair of VIP tickets to The Landing Festival, along with a few single day General Admission passes. Those that would like to the enter the giveaway can so here.
