Stanton Moore will begin his month-long residency at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro tonight with a pair of shows at 8 p.m and 10 p.m.
Moore will be performing every Tuesday with James Singleton and David Torkanowsky in support of his latest album, Conversations.
Known best as a founding member of Galactic, Moore also has a long-history of innovative collaborations and historic performances from his solo career. Conversations is Moore’s first straight-ahead jazz trio album.
Together with Singleton and Torkanowsky, two of the most respected musicians in New Orleans, Moore’s trio covers a wide range of musical styles from classical jazz to improvisational music and beyond.
Moore’s return to Frenchmen street was explained in a statement on his website: “after years of delivering huge grooves and unrelenting funk at some of the world’s most revered rock clubs and festivals, Moore is stepping back to focus on the subtlety of swing and improvisation, while presenting the music at intimate venues like that of his jazz trio’s home-base, Snug Harbor.”
You can stream “Carnival” from the Conversations album below.
Tickets for each show are $15 and will be available for purchase at the door.
