The World War II Museum’s BB Stage Door Canteen will host Stage Door Idol, a singing competition event similar to American Idol. Talented singers from the New Orleans area will perform hits of the 1940s to compete for the chance to win $2,000 and the title of Stage Door Idol 2024. Preliminary rounds were held throughout July and the final competition will be held Aug. 13 with local celebrities judging. The finalists will be accompanied by the World War II Museum’s Six Swing Band.
The event will feature Noah Lanier performing “If I Loved You,’ Elizabeth Lowry performing “Green Eyes,” Isabel Gisclair singing “Almost Like Being in Love,” Rebecca Garfien performing “One for My Baby,” and Lloyd Meekins singing “Come Rain or Come Shine.” Whitney Mixon, the winner of the 2023 Stage Door Idol contest will also perform.
The event will take place Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. at BB Stage Door Canteen at 935 Magazine Street (located within the World War II Museum). Tickets are available starting at $20 and may be purchased by visiting here. Be sure to select the finale event when purchasing your tickets.
The National WWII Museum, formerly known as The National D-Day Museum, is focuses on the contributions made by the United States during the Second World War. Founded in 2000, it was later designated by Congress as America’s official WWII Museum in 2004.
