The Split Second Foundation, an organization committed to breaking physical, societal, and research barriers for people living with disabilities, will hold a fundraising event August 13. Split Second Fitness is the first facility in Louisiana dedicated to people living with paralysis, stroke or amputation. Notably, 20.6 million Americans live with some form of ambulatory disability, requiring a mobility device. Many of these people face an isolated world with few social interactions, health complications, a higher risk of suicide, a shorter life expectancy and few places to turn to.
Dependence Day is The Split Second Foundation’s premier fundraising event that harnesses the power of community to help the more than 300,000 Louisiana people living with paralysis or amputation. We all know someone who has been affected by paralysis or amputation–these are our friends, family, neighbors–this is us–and Dependence Day provides a great evening to celebrate, eat, drink, dance and party with a purpose.
The event will be hosted by WGNO’s Tamica Lee, also of Bravo’s Southern Charm series, with a VIP performance from OffBeat cover star, Robin Barnes. The organization states: “The VIP Cocktail Party is an exclusive networking affair for our sponsors and VIP guests to mingle before the main event begins. Sounds will be provided by Nesby Phips and a Performance by The New Orleans Songbird, Robin Barnes. The Dependence Day Show of Love Gala will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will be a night to remember. We Will have food provided by Juan’s Flying Burrito, The Chloe, Sofia, Morrow’s Nola, We Dat’s, McHardy’s Chicken & Fixin’, Desi Vega’s Steackhouse, and more. Spirits provided by Seven Three Distilling co., Casamigos, & Redemption. Sounds by Nesby Phips & Rob Nice and a Performance by Grammy-nominated Tank & The Bangas. We hope to see you there.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a positive difference in thousands of lives and catch a live performance from Tank and the Bangas at the 3rd annual Dependence Day on Friday, August 13 at 7 p.m. at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Boulevard. As this is a gala event, summer cocktail attire is required.
