Southern Screen–a local, non-profit organization focusing on the art of storytelling in film, music, podcast, and other entertainment mediums–is accepting film submissions for the ninth Southern Screen Festival in Lafayette, LA. Southern Screen is a non-competitive festival, accepting narrative features, documentaries, short films, animations, music videos, web series, TV pilots and student films. Instead of focusing on the competition aspect found in other film festivals, Southern Screen seeks to support artists by creating a space for viewing and discussing new work.
For this year’s festival, submission acceptance began on March 12, but Southern Screen will be accepting submissions until the final deadline of Friday, July 12. Submission fees vary for each category: submission of a feature length film costs $50 per feature, short film submission costs $40, student features are $30 and student shorts are also $30.
The festival will take place from Thursday, Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019. Southern Screen will feature a wide range of entertainment, including live music, creole and cajun food, workshops, networking events and more. As an artistic community Southern Screen seeks to build upon and innovate the traditional presentation of film and music festivals. The mission of Southern Screen is to show each guest and community member the possibilities of engaging with classic and emerging entertainment mediums.
Southern Screen accepts submissions through FilmFreeway. For more information visit southernscreen.org.
