Along with its Producing Artistic Director Aimée Hayes, Southern Rep Theatre will showcase three theater productions in its “City Series” this summer.
“Now that we’re at home on Bayou Road,” said Hayes, “we’re thrilled to announce the return of our City Series, which used to be our summertime offering that showcased the many different kinds of artists that make up our great city. These three productions will intrigue, inspire and make you laugh−and there’s no better way to cool down and enjoy a cold cocktail than with this unique curation of home-grown theater.”
The three plays are “Inside the Creole Mafia,” the award-winning work by Mark Broyard and Roger Guenveur; “‘Til Sunday,” a one-woman play from Nairoby Otero; and “A Conjuring & Telling of Black Girl Magic,” curated and directed by Southern Rep’s Acting Company member Constance Thompson.
Taking place on the Mainstage of Southern Rep Theatre’s 2541 Bayou Rd. home, the City Series plays run July 11 through 14 (“Inside the Creole Mafia”), July 18-28 (“‘Til Sunday”) and August 2-11 (“A Conjuring & Telling of Black Girl Magic”).
