With a record setting 160,000 attendees bringing in an estimated economic impact of $192 million, Southern Decadence 2014 will go down as one of the most successful years in the festival’s 43 year history.
This year’s Southern Decadence parade featured more than 1,000 participants, with an estimated 40,000 revelers lining the parade’s French Quarter route.
Proceeds from this year’s celebration benefit the PFLAG-New Orleans (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) scholarship fund.
The 43rd Decadence celebration boasted 22 official sponsors, the largest number in the history of the festival.
Next year’s Southern Decadence will kick off on Thursday, September 3, 2015, and run through Monday, September 7, 2014.
