South Pitch Supports South-Based Filmmakers for 12th Consecutive Year

South Pitch, the platform for Southern-based filmmakers, is back for its 12th edition. The program provides a valuable opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their talent and receive crucial support for their film projects. Since its inception in 2011, South Pitch has played a significant role in launching new film ideas, offering early feedback, and even providing seed funding to deserving candidates.

This year, the event will select 12 finalists, evenly split between narrative and documentary genres. Each of the finalists will receive a $1,000 cash prize and an all-access pass to the 34th New Orleans Film Festival. The organizers will also provide travel support to assist the finalists in attending the festival.

One exceptional project from each category, narrative and documentary, will be chosen to receive a grant of $10,000. This grant aims to empower the winners in realizing their creative vision and facilitating the production of their films.

The South Pitch initiative has gained recognition as a crucial stepping stone for emerging filmmakers in the South, fostering a vibrant film community and providing a platform for creative individuals to showcase their talents.

South Pitch has presented groundbreaking films that have achieved critical acclaim and international success in previous years. With the 12th edition approaching, filmmakers and industry professionals eagerly anticipate unveiling new talent and captivating storytelling.

The 34th New Orleans Film Festival, coupled with the South Pitch competition, promises to be a remarkable event celebrating Southern cinema’s rich diversity and creativity. Supported by the New Orleans Film Society, South Pitch continues to contribute to the growth and development of the regional film industry, empowering filmmakers to bring their visions to life.

Filmmakers across the South are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their projects for consideration. To apply for the South Pitch Narrative and Documentary grants, filmmakers can visit the official website of the New Orleans Film Society.
