Later this month, the underground hip-hop scene in New Orleans will be honored with a special event toasting ten years of The soundCLASH, the city’s premier showcase for rapping, DJing, beat battles and all things pertaining to the culture. It’s an auspicious milestone for New Orleans, where residencies come and go and some rap fans are prone to fickle attention spans. As such, organizers have amassed a line-up celebrating not only soundCLASH’s past, but its tomorrows.
On Friday, October 12, the Howlin Wolf will host The soundCLASH 10-Year Anniversary showcase, hosted by comedian Mark Caesar. The performance line-up will feature:
Alfred Banks
Paasky
Prosper Jones
Kyng David
$leazy EZ
Derelyn
Broken Levee
Chad Conquering Lion
Sounds will be provided by DJ FTK and Jay Skillz.
Due to the significance of the anniversary, the event may feature surprise appearances and unexpected performances. According to event producer El Williams, “If you’ve ever put together events, you know surviving ten years is an accomplishment. Surviving ten months is awesome and surviving ten years is monumental. You just never know who might come through. We want to see day-one fans, day 100s, day 3000s…let’s keep it going.”
The soundCLASH 10-Year Anniversary concert event will take place on the Porch at Howlin Wolf (907 S. Peters). Tickets are available here for $10. The show is 18+ and doors open at 9p.m.
