The Soul Rebels will open four upcoming dates on Ms. Lauryn Hill’s “MLH Caravan Diaspora Calling!” tour, including the hip-hop icon’s show at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.
Last month, Hill announced that MLH Caravan would be a concert series full of special guests from throughout the African diaspora, saying, “In these days of tension, tumult and transition, an exchange of this kind can yield direction, expression, understanding and empowerment as well as connection, self-Love and appreciation that hopefully overflows into our respective communities.”
New Orleans’ own Soul Rebels will take part in the endeavor, as the band is slated to perform at Hill’s stops in Austin, Louisville and San Antonio (in addition to the New Orleans appearance). The band has already joined Hill for the tour’s opening dates, which featured stops in Philadelphia, Chicago and Detroit.
Other guest artists that are confirmed for the MLH Caravan include Nas, Kehlani, Machel Montano, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Little simz, EL, Noname, JoJo Abot, Jesse Royal and more.
The MLH Caravan marks the Soul Rebels’ latest foray into the world of hip-hop. As previously reported, the group is slated to back Talib Kweli for a run of dates later this month. They’ve also collaborated with Nas, Joey Bada$$, Big Freedia, Macklemore and Slick Rick in recent years.
Tickets for Ms. Lauryn Hill’s MLH Caravan shows are now on sale.
