On Saturday, January 12, The Soul Rebels and Erica Falls performed on the Tipitina’s stage in New Orleans to toast the historic venue’s 42nd anniversary.
Ms. Falls opened the evening with her signature powerhouse vocals, showcasing her incredible range and consummate stage presence. Performing a mix of original music and some classic material, she left much of the crowd audibly gasping at her musical agility.
Following her enthralling set, The Soul Rebels electrified the house (as they’re prone to do). With some surprises in store, including an appearance from drumming phenom Nikki Glaspie and a handful of African drummers, the band breathlessly segued from anthemic songs like “504” to hip-hop covers. Of special note was their rendition of Chance The Rapper’s “No Problems.”
