The Soul Rebels will continue their quest to collaborations with all of hip-hop’s finest when they team up with Nas at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival this summer. The New Orleans brass maintsays–who have performed with rap icons Joey Bada$$, Talib Kweli, Rakim and more during the past year–will join forces with the legendary Brooklyn MC at the festival’s finale concert on Saturday, July 16.
The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival’s finale will take place at Brooklyn Bridge Park in the burough’s DUMBO neighbhorhood. Other performers include Fabolous, Talib Kweli, Rapsody and DJ Rob Swift, among others.
Recent years have found the Soul Rebels working with a variety of nationally recognized hip-hop artists, along with locals like Curren$y, Mannie Fresh and Big Freedia. Considering that the group has also collaborated with big name acts like Metallica, Marilyn Manson and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis–as well as jam bands like the String Cheese Incident and Lotus–it’s safe to say that the Soul Rebels are one of the most versatile brass bands to ever come out of New Orleans.
