Congratulations to Brian Boyles and Rene Louapre. This week, Gambit recognizes these two OffBeat contributors in its annual “40 Under 40” feature. Boyles reviews albums for us and has a very cool feature coming up in December. Gambit honors him for his work as the director of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, particularly his “People Say” conversation project and “As Told By Themselves,” a series of brass band oral histories.

Louapre is half of our food review team with Peter Thriffiley, who also write the food blog, Blackened Out. Rene also has a feature coming up in December, but Gambit focuses on his work with Becker Hall to create Hogs for the Cause – an annual barbecue cook-off and music festival to benefit families dealing with pediatric brain cancer.
