Sean Yseult (best known as the bass player in multi-platinum noise rock/heavy metal band White Zombie), will launch a unique photography exhibit called Soirée D’Evolution: Tableaux Vivants et Nature Mortes at the Scott Edwards Gallery (2109 Decatur Street) this weekend.
It features seven large-scale photos of still-lifes (full of human remains, antique instrument, candles, knives, and absinthe) staged in Yseult’s Garden District mansion.
The theme is an evening with a fictional secret society she’s dubbed the “Omniscient Oracles of the Occult”, a cult of the sordid, high-society variety that flourished in New Orleans in the 1800s.
Yseult has also created limited-edition companion books for the exhibit.
The display will run in the front gallery from April 16th to June 14th, with a partial exhibit will remaining in the back room until August.
The opening party is set to take place at the gallery this Saturday from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., featuring music by Yseult’s band Rock City Morgue and various other musician friends.
