Quintron and Miss Pussycat’s new exhibit, Parallel Universe: Quintron and Miss Pussycat Live at City Park, opened at the New Orleans Art Museum with a party this past Friday, January 29. The king and queen of the hour, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, were there for the reception, along with what must have been over 75% of the New Orleans hipster contingent.
The exhibit contains Miss Pussycat’s puppets; video kiosks for watching her puppet shows; displays of Quintron’s Drum Buddies, including an interactive, arcade version of the Drum Buddy, open for the public to manipulate; and above the drum buddies, covering the walls of the gallery salon-style, are dozens of paintings from NOMA’s vaults. The show runs until May 2, and will feature Quintron recording material in the gallery for a new album every Wednesday through Sunday during regular museum hours. A listening party is planned at the end of April for the public to hear the results of these recordings.
