The current, January 2010, issue of OffBeat features a story on The Warehouse, one of the top music clubs in New Orleans during the 1970s. Its stage was graced by many of the cornerstone acts of classic rock, from The Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac on opening night to The Talking Heads the night The Warehouse closed. On January 29 & 30, 2010, Harrah’s Casino New Orleans hosts “The Warehouse New Orleans… Revisited!” – a tribute show in honor of the 40th anniversary of the opening of The Warehouse. The show will feature a sneak preview of an upcoming documentary about the club, followed by a performance led by Larry Sieberth of songs by the classic acts who appeared at the club.
We were fortunate enough to get a number of photos from Sidney Smith, “official/unofficial photographer of The Warehouse”, some of which appeared in print alongside the story. Here’s a slideshow with some bonus photos included, all taken by Sidney Smith.
