Six of Saturns is back for its fourth year in a row with a stacked lineup, a diverse photo gallery exhibit and an exciting ten-day event celebrating music, culture and collaboration! With a venue at the Ace Hotel New Orleans, this fresh fest begins on Thursday, April 25 and continues until Sunday, May 5.
Six of Saturns began in 2016 when the Ace Hotel New Orleans opened and has since gained traction for being a cult-favorite standalone music festival. It started as a celebration for the opening of the hotel but has quickly evolved into a special music festival that takes place the same days as Jazz Fest. With performances in previous years from big names such as Tank and the Bangas, PJ Morton, Taylor McFerrin, Common, Talib Kweli, and Brian Blade, the festival has grown each year and continues to put on an outstanding live show.
For 2019’s Six of Saturns, the program covers up-and-coming artists from jazz, hip hop, and much more, with featured performances from New Orleans favorite DJ Soul Sister and Deva Mahal. For a select group of shows, Six of Saturns has partnered up with Sound Observatory New Orleans (SONO), an organization dedicated to cultivating new music in New Orleans.
To continue celebrations of all things New Orleans, Ace Hotel New Orleans has put together a photo gallery exhibit that will highlight photos exclusively by Black photographers who have shot at Jazz Fest in the past. The photo gallery will highlight New Orleans’ ever-changing music scene and is curated by Girard Mouton III, Jazz Fest photographer.
