Celebrating the lives of our most colorful culture-bearers is one of the New Orleanian’s favorite past times. This Saturday, January 4, one and all are invited to adorn silly hats and party with New Orleans culture maven Pat Jolly in honor of her birthday at Café Istanbul.
If you are not on Pat Jolly’s email list, well, let’s just say there might be a cultural event or two you are missing. Pat’s dedication to New Orleans’ cultural heritage is often unmatched. A dynamic soul, she serves our community as event promoter, humble host, photographer, art collector and all-around inclusive communicator. Pat can often be found cutting a rug on the dance floor or at a second line, costumed for Mardi Gras, snapping photos, acting as tour guide to guests, volunteering at a Mardi Gras Indian event or working a local arts and crafts booth. But perhaps best of all, she sports the silliest of the silly hats!
Pat Jolly’s 12th Annual “Silly Hat” Birthday Party is Saturday, January 4 from 8 p.m. until late at Café Istanbul inside the New Orleans Healing Center (2372 St. Claude Ave). Live music by four bands, silent TV for Saints fans, cash bar and food available from the New Orleans Food Co-Op. Costumes and silly hats encouraged!
