Singer and bandleader Sierra Green, hailing from New Orleans’ vibrant 7th ward, emerged from church choir to the stage and has become known as the Queen of Frenchmen Street. Backed by her band of top local players, the Giants, Sierra’s dynamic performances channel passion and liberation reminiscent of Motown legends with a timeless but modern soulful sound that aims to inspire change.
Sierra captured the attention of artist managers Adam Shipley, Rueben Williams and Jude Chauvin who decided to combine their energy and resources, teaming their companies Artist Management Plus (AMP) and Hep Cat Entertainment in their first co-management collaboration. Sierra Green and the Giants will perform as headliners at a special Industry Night showcase at Chickie Wah Wah at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29 to celebrate the collaboration while debuting several tracks featured on the artist’s upcoming album due out in 2024.
Sierra and The Giants recently recorded five songs in New Orleans with legendary producer David Torkanowsky. The recordings include an impressive version of The Meter’s “Break in the Road,” as well as her own take on “Promised Land,” a song by the Revivalists’ David Shaw. On the crawling song, “One Thing” Sierra takes her gloves off with a powerful performance channeling the depth of her passion and range and she owns and projects her own style into Nina Simone’s anthem, “Feeling Good.” “He Called Me Baby” is a perfect track to express the direction and soulful sound that Sierra has delivered throughout her career. Continuing work on her highly anticipated debut album, Sierra traveled to Nashville this past week for a heavyweight recording session with producer/guitarist J.D. Simo (Beyonce, Stevie Nicks, Jack White, Phil Lesh). Her sound can easily be compared to any of the Motown legends of 1960’s and their modern-day peers.
Artist Management Plus (AMP) is a management company formed in 2021 by Jude Chauvin and Rueben Williams, who were formerly partners in Williams’ Thunderbird Management Group (Samantha Fish, Tab Benoit, Devon Allman), where Chauvin ran the NYC office. Williams has a long and successful career managing some of the world’s premier artists, especially in the blues and roots genres. With Tab Benoit, he co-founded the Voice of the Wetlands, a volunteer-based non-profit, focused on driving awareness and developing educational outlets/programs about the loss of the wetlands in southern Louisiana. Chauvin has a long career in entertainment and advertising having held executive positions at Madison Square Garden, the Saenger Theater, and Trumpet Advertising, where was partner and CFO. Artist Management Plus represents several artists including Jesse Dayton (who shares a 2024 Grammy
nomination with Samantha Fish for Best Contemporary Blues Album), Eric Johanson, John “Papa” Gros, Mike Dillon, and Ghalia Volt.
Hep Cap Entertainment was formed by talent buyer, event producer, and manager Adam Shipley over 30 years ago. Shipley has been in New Orleans since 1998 when he moved here to book and run Tipitinas. Subsequently he managed Preservation Hall and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Since 2010,
through Hep Cat Entertainment, Shipley has managed the careers of the Soul Rebels, the late Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Johnny Sansone, and others as well as booked all the music for Hogs for the Cause and promoted various shows and events.
