Shorty Foundation Music Industry Apprenticeship Program

The Trombone Shorty Foundation hosts an exciting initiative aimed at equipping local youth with the skills and experiences needed to thrive in the music industry. The Music Industry Apprenticeship Program is designed for young people ages 16-24, offering them a unique blend of education, mentorship and hands-on work experience.

The Music Industry Apprenticeship Program provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the music and entertainment industry. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical work placements, apprentices gain the skills and insights necessary to build successful careers. The program covers key industry skills, and participants are paired with mentors who guide them throughout their journey.

Starting in the spring, apprentices collaborate with industry partners in roles tailored to their personal goals and interests, allowing them to apply their newly acquired skills in real-world settings.

The program is open to young people aged 16-24 living in New Orleans, particularly those who are disconnected from school or work or enrolled in alternative or non-traditional educational programs.
