Who says your Independence Day celebrations have to end of July 4? New Orleans trumpeter Shamarr Allen is having a Star Spangled Birthday Bash at the Shamrock on July 5 at 10:00 p.m.

Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs, comprised of drummer Floyd Gray, percussionist and backing vocalist Herbert Stevens, Jason Butler on keyboard, Matt Clark on guitar and bassist Terry Williams, will perform alongside the Hot 8 Brass Band, TBC Brass Band, and DJ DNA.

Allen, a cultural ambassador for the U.S. Department of State, has toured the world, including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, spreading knowledge about the cultural heritage of New Orleans music. He has toured with Willie Nelson, recorded with R.E.M., and performed for President Obama.

Tickets for the event cost $10 and will be available at the door.
