“Free your ass and your mind will follow!” A play on the classic Funkadelic album title, this mantra guides funk project Sexual Thunder! The eight-piece group brings together elements of deep funk and contemporary dance music to create body-moving grooves and a message of peace, love and understanding. On September 23, the band will release “Pleasure To The People”, a 6-track record and their first in three years.

In celebration, the band will host SexyFest 2017, 2017, a music and arts showcase celebrating sexual and artistic expression. The event will take place across three rooms in the Howlin Wolf New Orleans: two stages will be devoted to live music while a third room will host visual artists, creating a multimedia festival highlighting exciting young talent in the city.

Sexual Thunder! will headline the event, supported by a collection of up-and-coming musical acts. New Orleans-native and prolific creator Khris Royal and Dark Matter will perform. On the heels of high-profile supporting shows in town, freak jazz space rock outfit Loose Willis will perform all original music. The female-fronted r&b band Miss Mojo will the stage, along with the Noah Young Trio (Naughty Professor) and singer-songwriter Aaron Cohen. Special musical guests will be announced closer to the event.

Get Fly Body Painting will be doing artwork on the attendees. Painter Gabrielle Cashio will display her work, which explores themes of expression, identity, and feminism. Additional artists will be announced as the organizers confirm.
