Brazilian singer-songwriter and actor Seu Jorge will bring his David Bowie tribute show to New Orleans’ Civic Theatre on Tuesday, December 6.
American audiences are more familiar with Jorge’s work as an actor, which includes roles in 2002’s City of God and 2004’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. A substantial portion of the latter film’s soundtrack–and the film itself–consists of Jorge performing Bowie songs in Portuguese with an acoustic guitar, a project that provided the inspiration for his upcoming tribute tour.
As previously reported, Bowie passed away in January of this year at the age of 69. His life and music have been the subject of a number of tributes since then, including a large French Quarter second line orchestrated by Arcade Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
Tickets for Seu Jorge’s show–which is billed as A Life Aquatic: A Tribute to David Bowie–are now on sale.
