As we reported Monday, drummer Herman Ernest passed away Sunday after a bout with cancer. Services for Ernest will take place this Saturday, March 12 at First Pilgrim Baptist Church (1228 Arts St.). There will be a viewing from 8-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service. After his interment at St. Louis Cemetery III, there will be a second line led by the Treme Brass Band that will end at The Wisdom Reception Center (1359 St. Bernard Ave.).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Orleans Musicians Assistant Foundation Cancer Screening Fund in the name of Herman V. “Roscoe” Ernest. Please visit the online guestbook to leave a remembrance or note for Ernest’s family and friends.
