Anders Osborne and his team of kind humans over at Send Me a Friend have done it again. Feeling they were lacking pivotal information and ammunition in the fight for behavioral health, they created a survey in order to strengthen their goals.
Send Me a Friend partnered with The Tulane University School of Social Work, creating a supergroup of Anders Osborne, co-founder of Send Me A Friend; Bill Taylor, director of Send Me A Friend; Patrick Bordnick, PhD, Dean of the School of Social Work; Tonya Hansel, PhD, director of the social work school’s doctorate program and a whole slew of other behavioral health clinicians, musicians and industry experts.
Established in 2016, Send Me A Friend is a network of “sober friends” who are on call to attend a show and offer a helping hand to be a source of support for newly sober musicians and music industry professionals. They believe that no artist should have to struggle with anxiety, depression, or substance abuse alone.
The idea of this nationwide survey is that it is aimed at examining the behavioral health challenges of musicians. The more input they have, the more techniques they can develop for tackling the issues. Their secondary goal is to, in writing, demonstrate the need for increased behavioral health support and interventions to support musicians.
If you’d like to add your ideas, you can take the 30 question survey here.
