Family and friends of Cindy Lea McCurry will celebrate her life with a second line on the afternoon of Saturday, September 24.
A brass band will lead the procession, which plans gather on the neutral ground in front of Port of Call at 838 Esplanade at 1pm before setting off through the French Quarter at 2pm. The second line will eventually come to an end at Jackson Square.
McCurry, a longtime New Orleans resident, passed away in car accident on September 8. She was the mother of Tara Iuso (wife of musician Billy Iuso) and a member of the Krewe of Nyx.
McCurry fell in love with New Orleans during her first visit to the city as a child, and later moved here in 1999. She was a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints and a lover of costuming, so all second line attendees are encouraged to wear their Mardi Gras best and bring instruments if possible.
