The Sazerac House is hosting a weeklong celebration from June 20-26 of the five simple ingredients that make the Sazerac cocktail a distinctive libation, featuring special exhibits highlighting sugar, lemon, Sazerac Rye, Herbsaint and Peychaud’s Bitters. Events will include a special edition Sazerac Cocktail “Drink & Learn” with Elizabeth Pearce and a Virtual Sazerac Cocktail Class hosted by cocktail expert Matt Ray.
The Sazerac House is a three-story cocktail museum, tasting experience and distillery located at 101 Magazine Street. The celebration is an expansion of Sazerac Cocktail Day on June 23, which was the date in 2008 that the Louisiana State Legislature designated the Sazerac Cocktail the official cocktail of the city of New Orleans.
In addition to the special exhibits and classes, the Sazerac House will host special pop-up experiences in the museum’s lobby, including a “Feed the Second Line Lounge” where guests can interact with culture bearers and learn more about their contributions to the legacy of New Orleans. Special Sazerac Cocktail Week merchandise, including t-shirts, posters and pins are available for purchase.
At its heart Sazerac Cocktail Week is designed to support the people who bring New Orleans to life—artists, musicians and culture bearers. Throughout the month of June the Sazerac Company and the Sazerac House will contribute to Feed the Second Line as part of the Sazerac Cocktail Week. The Sazerac House will donate one dollar for every vistor and bottle sold at the Sazerac House through the month of June along with 10 percent of commemorative merchandise sales, up to $10,000. Additional contributions will be made through the sale of Sazerac cocktails at participating locations around the country which Sazerac Company will match dollar for dollar up to $25,000.
