The Sarah Jaffe and Polyphonic Spree concert at Southport Hall tonight has been cancelled due to a bus fire.
Southport co-owner Mark Bagnetto announced yesterday that the Polyphonic Spree’s bus caught fire en route to New Orleans for the show.
“Everyone is fine,” Bagnetto said in a Facebook post. “The show has been rescheduled to Sunday August 31st (Labor Day Weekend). Anyone who has purchased tickets can receive a full refund. All tickets purchased before will be honored on later rescheduled date. We truly apologize.”
A post on the band’s Facebook page announcing the bus fire indicated that the starter had “blown up” and caught fire.
Polyphonic Spree frontman Tim DeLaughter Tweeted “‘Bus is on fire Tim, we need to get off the bus’ words you don’t want to wake up to” at 4:01 p.m. on July 9.
We hope the band’s trip to New Orleans for the rescheduled show will be much less eventful.
