Folk-rock singer Sarah Jaffe will play Southport Hall on Thursday, July 10, 2014, along with the Polyphonic Spree.
Growing up in Red Oak, Texas, Jaffe first dedicated herself to acoustic folk music, an influence clearly present on her debut E.P. Even Born Again, released in 2008.
She moved on to compose more indie-rock tunes like “Clementine” and “Vulnerable” as she got to tour alongside Norah Jones, Chelsea Wolfe and Centro-Matic.
Her upcoming album, Don’t Disconnect, will be out in August. Acclaimed by audiences and reviewers from the New York Times to NPR, the 28-year-old Texan is building a reputation for her live performances.
The Polyphonic Spree will be there to add some rhythm and fun to the show. The feel-good psychedelic rock band from Dallas has released seven albums so far. They catapulted into the spotlight when David Bowie requested that the band play with him at the U.K.’s Meltdown Festival in 2002.
Doors will open at 7:30, and tickets are already available from the Southport Hall website.
