The Roots will play a Jazz Fest after show at New Orleans’ Orpheum Theater on Friday, April 29. The show will be a tribute to local saxophonist Clarence “Trixzey” Slaughter (Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Hot 8 Brass Band), who died earlier this year at the age of 26.
The event–billed as Soul Slaughter: In Memory of Clarence Slaughter–will also feature appearances by a number of special guests.
Doors will open at 10pm and the show will begin at 11pm, just a few hours after Paul Simon, My Morning Jacket and Ms. Lauryn Hill headline the festival proper at the Fair Grounds.
Tickets to the show will go on sale this Friday, March 25 at 10am, and will run between $93.50 and $193.50. Fans will need to be 21+ in order to attend.
