From June 30 to July 2, rockabilly fans will converge at the Robertsdale Coliseum, Arena & Fairgrounds (19477 Fairgrounds Road, Robertsdale, AL, approximately 2.5 hours from New Orleans, just past Mobile) for Rockabilly Bamalama. The event aims to serve as a nostalgic trip back to the golden era of rockabilly, featuring renowned bands from the United States and Europe.
The festival aims to pay homage to the greats of rockabilly, including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Jerry Lee Lewis, with performances by New Orleans-based Ted Hefko Thousandaires, Tiffany Pollack and Company, Johnny Angel and Helldorado, and many more.
Beyond the music, Rockabilly Bamalama offers a range of engaging activities including a “Rockabilly Pin-Up Pageant” that will showcase participants competing for titles such as Rockabilly Pin-Up Queen; Ms. Red, White and Blue Patriot; and Silverbilly Queen. Dance contests and the “Be A Star” competition will allow aspiring talents to showcase their skills and shine on stage.
Merchants Row will feature an activity hub with various vendors offering everything from rockabilly fashion to vintage memorabilia.
Automobile enthusiasts can admire a parade boulevard filled with lowriders, hot rods, motorcycles, and classic cars from bygone eras at the Hot Rod, Cycle, Vintage Bike, and Car Show. The evening will feature a fireworks display.
