Rob Reiner, known for his versatility as an actor, director, and producer, will host a screening of his project God & Country at the Prytania Theatre.
Rob Reiner rose to prominence as an actor in the hit TV series All in the Family, where he portrayed the lovable character Michael “Meathead” Stivic. However, Reiner’s impact extends beyond his acting prowess. In the realm of film, he’s renowned for his directorial work, which includes beloved classics like Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally. Most recently, Reiner has made local headlines for his work behind the cameras of the sequel to 1984’s This is Spinal Tap. He directed The 1984 mockumentary film that satirizes the rock and roll industry through the fictional heavy metal band Spinal Tap is currently filming in New Orleans with its original cast (Michael McKean, local Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest) alongside musical legends such as Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, and Paul Shaffer.
Reiner’s film God & Country will screen for one day only on March 30 (12:30 p.m.) at the historic Prytania Uptown, located at 5339 Prytania Street. God & Country serves as “a look at the implications of Christian Nationalism and how it distorts not only our constitutional republic, but Christianity itself.” Featuring prominent Christian thought leaders, God & Country asks this question: What happens when a faith built on love, sacrifice, and forgiveness grows political tentacles, conflating power, money, and belief into hyper-nationalism? Doors will open at noon and Reiner’s film will be followed by a Q&A featuring the prolific director.

The Prytania Theatre is over 100 years old and is the longest continually operated theatre in the South. It has been operated by the Brunet family for over 25 years. The Brunet family has been operating theatres in the New Orleans area for over 130 years and at any moment, you can find three generations of the Brunet family working in the theatre.
