Khruangbin have been making waves this past year with their debut album The Universe Smiles Upon You. The gentle-yet-engaging record draws from ‘60s Thai funk, surf rock and old-fashioned psychedelia for a series of layered, mostly-instrumental jams that have won over countless fans since it dropped—seemingly out of nowhere—in late 2015.
However, like any band worth their salt, the Houston-based trio’s sound is even more captivating in a live setting. As of now, New Orleans hasn’t been fortunate enough to play host to such a show, but that fact will finally change when Khruangbin makes their Crescent City debut on the final day of Jazz Fest.
The concert is slated to go down at One Eyed Jacks on Sunday, May 7, just a few hours after Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue close things out at the Fair Grounds Race Course. Doors open at 9pm, and tickets are now on sale.
